My Birthday!!

Well, I celebrated my ___th birthday yesterday. It's been a long time since I've blogged so there's lots to tell.

First of all, I went out two Saturday nights before my birthday with Lana, Jill, and Jennifer to celebrate. The reason that we did it then was because Jill was going to be busy the next weekend getting ready to go to Disney. We had a blast. We went to Superior Grill, ate lots of chips and salsa, and were serenaded (the Happy Birthday Mamacita song) by what seemed like 20 Mexican men that I don't think could speak much English. They scared us to death when they surrounded us with whistling and woohooing. After dinner we went to see Step Up. It was pretty good.

Well, the Friday night before my birthday we were supposed to go to Delin's house to play games and eat pizza. During the course of planning, Lance mentioned to me to dress cute. What? I always dress cute. Anyway, it kind of put up a red flag to me that maybe something was going on. So, I called Kim Nealy and told her that I thought I was going to have a surprise party. She went off saying that she was going to be really upset if Delin planned a party and didn't invite her. Then a few minutes later Lance called and said that he was on his way home and that he didn't feel good. He said he felt nauseaus (sp?). He said he thought he ate something that was old and that it was making him sick. So, I called Delin and told her that we may not be able to come over. Lance got home and went to the bathroom and came out and said he felt a little better and maybe we could go but not for long. Well, we got to Delin's house and SURPRISE!! All of my friends were there...even Kim and Steve. She really threw me off and when she got off the phone with me she called Lance, which is why he said he was sick. He threw me off too. It was very fun. Lance had planned it from the start and I really had no idea.

Mom and Dad came in town this past Monday night and stayed until today. We went out last night for my birthday. We went to P.F. Chang's. Lance brought me lunch at school, Sandy and Melissa Fisher (student and parent/co-worker) surprised me with a cake, rose, and balloons at lunch. All in all, it was a great birthday! We are leaving tomorrow to go to the beach for Labor Day weekend with Kim and Steve. Mom and Dad will be there too. Can't wait.

Not much going on

Well, there is not much going on right now. Just going to school, working, homework time, etc. I've been watching Wife Swap. You know, if you ever start feeling bad about yourself, watch this. You will definitely feel better afterward. I'm not as bad as some and better than some as well. There is a family on right now and they give their children chores and get allowances. Here's the catch: they get graded on their chores and taxed on their allowances. They are homeschooled, live on a farm, and leave their house (property) only twice a month. My kids are SPOILED!! Well, so am I. Gotta go. Bedtime for my kiddies.

Dance TV

Lance and I just got finished watching So You Think You Can Dance. The finale is next week. I can't decide who I want to win. Anyway...

I had to take Logan to the doctor today because he started running a low grade fever at school today. These are times I wish my parents live here. Just knowing there is someone I can call when stuff like that happens. Anyway, turns out just as I suspected. He has the beginnings of a sinus infection so he is on antibiotics for 5 days.

It has rained so bad this afternoon and evening. This afternoon before it started the boys and I were at Walmart (I know, Mom, I live there! But at least it was during the day, right?) and when we parked the clouds were black to the north, but it was still dry where we were so I knew we had to be fast. By the time we got out of there I was getting nervous trying to get to the car. The lightning was surrounding us. It was just barely drizzling, but the thunder and lightning was fierce and here we were, pushing a metal cart, carrying a metal umbrella. Sounds safe, huh? By the time we got home, got the groceries out, and closed the garage door it was starting. I can't remember the last time I've been in a storm that severe. Even the hurricanes didn't produce that much lightning. I was actually a little nervous. Logan hid under the covers in my room the whole time. It's still raining, and I can still see the sky light up every once in a while. Lance is tanning in our tanning bed upstairs and I'm about to hit the sack.

Yesterday during carline I was outside calling names to dismiss children and Chanel Doise came through with her sister Kristie to pick up her son. We were joking about how I was glistening and not sweating and Kristie asked if I needed some water and I jokingly said that a smoothie or snowball would be really nice. Well, today we all went out for carline again and she had gone to Smoothie King and bought about 10 smoothies for all of the people working outside carline. It was so sweet of her. It was definitely refreshing! Then another parent coming through opened her window and told me to come stand in front of her air conditioner and she pointed it out so I could get a little cold air. Our parents at Hosanna are so thoughtful! She said it was 100 degrees outside. I can't wait until fall!

First Day of School!

Wow! What a great first day of school! The boys and I left for school early and we actually got there 15 minutes early! Imagine that... Everyone was buzzing when we got to school and the boys were ready to see all of their friends. I got a few nice little gifts this morning from students. One of my favorites was from one of my room mom's. She heard me say that I love Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and she surprised me this morning with a huge poster of him. How great was that. I'm gonna laminate it so it will last longer. I can't see it being approved for me to hang it at school. Maybe behind the door? Anyway, the day flew by! Before I knew it, it was 11:00. Time for recess. After that was lunch, then activity, then the end of the day. Carline was a steambath! It had rained earlier in the day so the water was still in puddles and the heat was just steaming up. It ended up lasting 15 minutes longer than normal. So, for 45 minutes several of us teachers stood out there getting students in their cars.

During dinner time the boys were so excited about telling about their days. They are so happy with their teachers, and happy to be back at Hosanna. I have to say, I am a much happier person as well. Lance was glad to see how happy we all are. That's what it's all about right? Not the money, not the convenience, but what keeps our family happy. Praise God for working it all out. Praise God that I'm not in charge of me, but He is!

First Week of School

I finished my first week back at school. It felt like I had never left. I have my classroom ready for the first day, I've met my students, now all I have left to do is finish getting my own kids ready. I have to label all of their supplies, iron their clothes and grocery shop for lunches. The boys got to see all of their friends that will be in their class. They are excited about their teachers. It's going to be a great year.

Nick had his first basketball game in the end of summer tournament. I think they won by about 20 points. Their next game is at 11:00 in the morning. If they win that game, they will play again at 2:00. If they win that, the tournament championship game will be at 5:00. I love watching him play, but I'm so ready for it to be over with. He has 2 practices a week and a game on Saturday. I'm ready to slow down for a while.

Logan lost a tooth last week and Nick lost another one last night. The tooth fairy has been busy around here lately. Well, Lance is mowing the lawn and I need to do things around the house. We are going to get a bite to eat before we pick up Bailey at the groomer. We're going to come home and the boys will watch Like Mike 2 and we're going to watch Madea's Family Reunion. I've heard it's hilarious!
